Desert Foothills YMCA & Community Center
A Place Where Generations Come Together
The Desert Foothills community soon will have a place for residents of all ages to develop their spirits, minds and bodies and have a lot of fun doing it.
You'll find something for everyone in the family at the Desert Foothills YMCA & Community Center, which is scheduled to break ground at 60th Street and Carefree Highway in 2007.
It will be a place for young mothers to exercise while their toddlers learn how to swim. Seniors will be able to visit with others, play cards or obtain special services from the Foothills Community Foundation or Scottsdale Healthcare. Various classes at Paradise Community College will allow local students to expand their minds.
Best of all, local youths and teenagers will have a safe place to go after school where they can play sports, meet new people and learn the YMCA's core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.
"The quality of life always has been important to Desert Foothills' residents," said Jim Reed, Building Community Connections campaign chairman, "and this project will be an integral part of our desire for security, health, recreation and community."
The $10 million Desert Foothills YMCA & Community Center project will be built with generous private and corporate contributions and community support. Membership fees and the YMCA organization will fund the ongoing operation and maintenance of the center.
